Calgary Zoo Lights – 2023

Zoo Lights 2023

Until January 7, enjoy the wonder of over one million lights at Zoo Lights at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo. This is an outdoor adventure that can be shared with the whole family. Hurry, you still have time to make this an annual holiday tradition.

With the backdrop of downtown Calgary, enjoy a stunning array of lights as you cross the bridge onto the island.

What’s new this year?

  • Polar Nights in Prehistoric Park
  • Snow Globes in Dorothy Harvie Gardens
  • ENMAX Conservatory – Ice and Snow
  • Boreal Forest Trek

Experience the magical musical tunnel that also changes colours as you move through it.

The Dorothy Harvie Gardens are illuminated with colourful flower figures defying the seasonal weather.  As well, you can also check out renting one of the seven Snow Globes for a one-of-a-kind experience that are also located here.

There are lights every way you turn, such as on buildings, trees and fences.  The animal creations are pretty cute.

We challenge you to find this walkway. Amazingly, we caught it with no people on it.

Throughout the park, there are a number of places to purchase hot chocolate to enjoy as you meander the colourful pathways. Or, sit for a minute in front of a wood burning firepit, actually there are several throughout the park.

Tickets

If you’re interested in going to Zoo Lights, you can find ticket prices here. In addition, you can view our previous post on the Calgary Zoo for information on zoo membership. We renewed our membership because we haven’t seen the new polar bears yet. Have you?

In conclusion, even if you have been to Zoo Lights before, it’s worth going again. The amount of lights is impressive. Plus, we always enjoy an outdoor adventure. This one happens to be in the city, which ultimately, is great for all of us.

If you have the time in the next week, check out Zoo Lights. Otherwise, you will have to wait until next year.  All in all, it’s a pretty great event.
