A trip into Kananaskis

 

This is only half of a Krausnick Adventure.  The photographer half, not the writer half, so you will have to bear with me and my writing skills.

Sunday morning had my photography friends coming to pick me up bright and early to head into Kananaskis for, hopefully, sunrise.  We made it to hwy 40, by the Tim Horton’s, before the sun started to, here we go, stretch across the sky and kiss the mountain peaks.  The peaks blushed with warm affection.

 

 

Barrier Dam was our next stop, the hope was some reflections.  As seen in the photo, the wind was not co-operating.

The mountains and the sun were still kissing.

 

 

So, our only reflection was that we needed to try somewhere more sheltered.  

Off to Wedge Pond we went.

 

 

Slightly less wind.  A bit of reflection.  Really needed a tripod and a ND filter.  Some riffles in the first pic.  The second one better.

We stopped periodically along the roadside where it was safe to pull off.  The wind was biting.

This is a really awesome mountain peak.  I tried to find the name of this mountain, but no luck on my Google search.  It is so jagged and textured and unwelcoming. 

 

 

I love the absolute stark beauty of winter.  Although, it is much preferred from the warmth of a vehicle.

 

 

The day was picture-perfect spectacular with crisp white snow and bright blue skies.

 

 

It is pretty much impossible to take a crappy picture. Interlakes was next on our route.  These are shots from the in between.

 

 

The wind was getting stronger as the day grew longer…LOL!!  My writing skill are stretching into poetry, this is surprising.

MOOSE!!

At this point, we had seen a couple of deer.  We didn’t stop for the deer, but we certainly stopped for the moose!!  This is taken with a big zoom lens, we parked a safe distance away and watched and photographed this handsome fella for 15 minutes or so, in fact we left before he did.  It was stellar end to a fun day out.

 

 

Sandy should be back for the next post.  Whew!!
