Pumpkins After Dark

 

We attended Pumpkins After Dark for the first time this year and it was quite the experience. Located at WinSport at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, this outdoor adventure takes you through a one-way path of thousands of carved pumpkins both organic and synthetic. This award-winning Halloween event runs from September 22 to October 31^st, 2023.

 

 

We don’t want to show you all the pictures we took, but we do want to give you a taste of this inner-city adventure. Perhaps, this will encourage you to come out.

 

Tickets

Tickets are purchased online only and you must choose a specific date and time for entry. There are lovely attendants at the door to verify your time. Tickets can be exchanged up to 24 hours prior to your ticket entry. Otherwise, plan to be there because there are no refunds. The show goes rain, or shine (or snow).

 

Parking

There are loads of free parking spaces a short walking distance from the entrance to the venue.

 

Family-friendly

People of all ages can enjoy this display. However, Pumpkins After Dark is not fur-friendly, so please leave your pets at home. This event is also stroller/wagon friendly. If you are in a wheelchair, it might be good to have a friend with you to get you up the initial wooden ramp that was first built in the 1980’s.

 

Food trucks

We came early thinking the food trucks would be outside of the venue, but they were inside. Therefore, we would suggest coming no more than 10 minutes prior to your entry time or you will likely have to wait in line.

 

Dress for Success

It takes between 1.5 to 2 hours to see all the displays and enjoy the food truck area. It is all outdoors so it’s good to layer up and dress for a cool evening. Temperatures will likely continue to drop as October moves on.

 

Full Circle

Both the start and finish of this adventure are near the food trucks. Here they have set up several Halloween photo opportunities you won’t want to miss. You will also find pumpkin carving demonstrations and live entertainment.
